Welcome and introductions: Brother Talib opened the meeting with prayer and welcomed the members. He highlighted and stressed on the code of conduct of Meeting in accordance to Islamic Shariah.

Review of actions from the previous annual general meeting: Brother Shamir Ali presented the minutes of SMA annual general meeting in 2017.

President/Chairperson’s report: Brother Sahizad presented the review of SMA activity from May 2017 till March 2018.

Treasurer’s report and Independent Auditors Report: Brother Mursad Ali presented the Treasurers report and financial statements for the year ending on 31 December 2017. This report was verified by Brother Ashiv Khan, who provided independent analysis of Southland Muslim Association's financial standing as at 31 December 2017.

Questions to Treasurer and Auditor:

1.        Brothers questioned the process of Appeal and Donations given and how SMA conducts this process. It was explained that the funds are collected through Appeal box placed in the mosque. The money is counted by SMA executives and additional money is added from SMA account including the excess interest money.

2.        The brothers are also told that SMA helps needy who has proper papers.

3.        In addition to this, Chairperson gave permission to Brother Mursad Ali to give his farewell speech.

Acceptance of financial statements

Proposed resolution: That the financial statements tabled at the annual general meeting be accepted and that the Treasurers report being fair in public opinion.
